Road flooded in Benitses - wall collapses

CORFU. The main Giros-Achilleio road and Kerkyra-Lefkimmi road are closed to traffic between Perama and Benitses with traffic police taking emergency measures.
The road between Perama and Benitses has been flooded due to the heavy rainfall and the Regional Governor for Technical Works Manolis Orphanoudakis has gone to the scene after being informed that a wall has collapsed. He told Enimerosi that it was a private wall which didn't have a runoff system and collapsed under the pressure of the water.
Traffic measures
Corfu Police announced that, due to weather conditions, which have caused rockfalls and flooding, the main Giros-Achilleio road and Kerkyra-Lefkimmi road are closed to traffic between Perama and Benitses with traffic police taking emergency measures.
Traffic is being diverted in Vrioni for those heading towards South Corfu and in Messonghi for those heading towards central Corfu.
Drivers are advised to take special care and follow instructions from the traffic police.
