Minister of Health:Amendment to extend deadline for health workers to get vaccinated and avoid suspension

The new Health Minister is giving health workers another opportunity with an amendment he is putting forward to allow those who get even the first vaccination shot now to avoid suspension.

The Minister Thanos Plevris said that National Health System personnel can have their suspension withdrawn and return to work if they get vaccinated now even with one shot.

Health Minister's statement

"Vaccinations were made mandatory for National Health System personnel  in order to help protect public health.

The vast majority of personnel has not only been vaccinated but has worked hard for members of the public to get vaccinated. The law is being implemented for the few who remain unvaccinated and are putting the lives of those using the health system in danger. It is being implemented with as few problems as possible and we will not deviate in its implementation - whoever does not get vaccinated will be suspended for however long is necessary.

Because we are not doing this to punish people, however, we are putting forward this amendment to allow those who get vaccinated with the first shot from now on to have their suspension withdrawn and return to work immediately on the condition that they complete their vaccination."
