Fire in Kavos

CORFU. Fire broke out in a wooded area in Kavos at 11:39 this morning.
Five fire engines with 15 firefighters are fighting the fire at the moment.

The fire in Kavos has been brought under partial control - although initial information from the Fire Service had been that it was in Kritika.
The fire broke out in farmland near to some rubbish but, thanks to the immediate response from the Fire Service, it did not spread. The South Corfu Civil Protection service also played a significant role with two vehicles and a JCB.
According to the Fire Service, 100 sq.m. of land was burnt and firefighters have remained at the scene as, although the fire is not burning, it has not been completely extinguished in the rubbish.
