Clean-up and maintenance of ΄execution wall΄ on Lazaretto Islet

CORFU. Deputy Mayor Giorgos Pantelios announced at Monday evening΄s Municipal Council meeting that clean-up and maintenance work is to begin on the ΄execution wall΄.
Central Corfu Municipality will be cleaning up the 'execution wall' and the surrounding area on Lazaretto Islet to protect it from fire risk.
The council decision came as confirmation of Mayor Meropi Ydraiou's promise to members of the public on Wednesday to immediately protect and reinforce the wall according to the recommendations of engineers who visited Lazaretto on Tuesday for that purpose.
Deputy Mayor Giorgos Pantelios announced that work will begin and that funds will be made available for the wall to be reinforced. The Municipal Councillor responsible for Lazaretto Spyros Neratzis has also begun procedures to conduct an inspection of damage on the small islet that recently came to light.
