ATHENS. In cooperation with the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the airline will continue, upon request, to operate repatriation flights.

Aegean Airlines is temporarily suspending all its international network flights from Thursday 26 March to Thursday 30 April due to COVID-19. The airline, which had already reduced its flights to 20% of the normal schedule, is obliged to do this due to travel restrictions imposed by Greece, EU and other states. The most recent development had been the suspension of flights to and from the UK and Turkey.

The statement from the airline says: "This decision stems from the commitment of the company to ensure the safety and well-being of both passengers and employees, as well as to support the sustainability of its operations."

In particular, as of Thursday, March 26th and up until April 30th, all international network flights, from all the airline's bases, will be temporarily suspended. A small number of weekly flights from Athens to Brussels will be operated, in order to maintain the country's connectivity with the EU’s administrative centre.

Earlier this week, following today's Civil Aviation Authority directive (NOTAM), all flights to and from UK will be suspended (the last flights to / from London will take place today 23 March).

It should be noted that Aegean, in cooperation with the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue, upon request of the Greek authorities, to operate repatriation flights or other emergency flights, should they arise.

8 repatriation flights have already been operated by Aegean from Morocco, Spain, Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia and Georgia on behalf of the Greek State and 1 flight from London to Larnaka on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus.

The airline says that, for the time being, it will maintain a limited frequency flight service to all domestic network, aiming to facilitate minimum essential connectivity for the island’s needs.

Passengers are encouraged to visit the company’s website www.aegeanair.com as all related information with regards flight cancellations or the registration process for the credit voucher, already offered by AEGEAN, are available online.
