Problems at Achilleion Palace - Museum staff staging work stoppage

CORFU. The President of Achilleion Workers΄ Union is complaining that the new Director has been flaunting his authority with sharp reprimands and criticisms of the staff.
Things are heating up at the Achilleion Palace following the decision of ETAD (Public Properties Company) to remove both the Museum Supervisor Yiannis Provatas and Financial Supervisor Maria Kritikou.
According to the President of Achilleion Workers' Union Giorgos Sayias, the Museum personnel is extremely concerned about the immediate future at the Achilleion. He told Enimerosi that the new Director at the Achilleion Palace Panayiotis Giorgakounias has immediately started 'flexing his muscles' with sharp reprimands and criticisms of the museum staff. ETAD is also annoyed by leaks to the press about conditions in the Achilleion, which undoubtedly needs substantial renovation work.
On Friday 18 October Achilleion Workers' Union will be staging a 3-hour work stoppage from 12:00 to 15:00. A General Assembly will also be held which could lead to a 48-hour strike.
The basic reason is the depressing condition in which the iconic museum finds itself following years without the necessary maintenance...but not the only reason.
