Traffic prohibited from high fire risk areas of Corfu on 15 August

CORFU. See which areas will be closed to vehicles and trippers on 15 August by order of the Regional Deputy Governor due to a Level 4 fire risk.
Deputy Regional Governor for Corfu Nikoletta Pandi chaired an extraordinary meeting of the Civil Protection Coordinating Body (SOPP) on 14 August. The main topic of discussion was "Civil Protection Department planning and action to tackle the danger of forest fires due to the current weather conditions".
The main objective of the meeting was to coordinate and ensure the close collaboration of all the organisations involved and prioritise the measures required to tackle any fires during the current high-risk period.
All the necessary preventative measures were discussed in order to prevent forest fires breaking out and to minimise the impact and consequences of fires which did break out.
It was announced that on 15 August, due to a Level 4 fire risk, vehicles and trippers will be prohibited from the following high-risk areas between 20:00 and 07:00 (the following day):
1. Ag. Mathaio forest, Arkoudilas, Mon Repos, Lazaretto Islet, Vidos Islet and Mouse Island in Corfu.
2. Erimitis, Panagia Isles, Ag. Nikolaos & Antipaxos in Paxos
A press release will be issued to let the public know what measures need to be taken to ensure the maximum effectiveness of efforts made.
