Access to certain areas prohibited due to high fire risk
CORFU. The ban is in effect from Tuesday afternoon until early Wednesday morning.
Access for individuals and vehicles is prohibited in NATURA areas, as well as in forest ecosystems, parks, and groves, from 12:01 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday due to the high fire risk in the following areas:
(a) The cedar forest in Issos (Korission Sand Dunes), the forest of Agios Matthaios, Arkoudilas, and the Theofylaktos area in Pavliana in South Corfu.
(b) Lazareto Island, Kombitsi, Agioi Deka, Stavros, and the Agios Panteleimon area in Kato Garouna in Central Corfu.
(c) Porto Timoni in North Corfu.
(d) Erimitis, Panagia Islands, Agios Nikolaos, and Antipaxos in the Municipality of Paxos.
A fine of 300 euros will be imposed for any violation of the above.
The prohibition of passage, stay, and movement of persons and vehicles does not apply to individuals who live or work in the areas where the above prohibition has been decided, exclusively for their commute to and from their residence or workplace, as well as individuals using the road network, subject to the possibility of imposing the prohibition measure on sections of this network by the competent authorities, in accordance with applicable regulations.
