Damage repairs to the Memorial for those executed on Lazaretto Island

CORFU. Repair and restoration work was carried out at the Lazaretto Memorial and cemetery for the 117 who were executed there during the civil war.
The work was carried out by Corfu Port Authority, represented by board member Spyros Varelis, in collaboration with the Lazaretto Association, represented by Secretary Xanthi Patmanidou-Papanastasiou.
A new marble commemorative plaque was constructed to replace the old damaged one. The plaque commemorates the National Reconciliation and is signed by Parliamentary President Anna Psarouda-Benaki.
The whole area was also cleaned up and the crosses with the names of those executed were restored.
