Corfu Mayor: The waste management problem needs to be discussed calmly and soberly

CORFU. Following the postponement of the meeting he had called yesterday to give an update on the waste management situation Mr. Nikolouzos made the following statement:
"We invited the leaders of the Regional and Municipal parties, independent councillors and representatives from other organizations to the Municipal Theatre today in order to provide an update on the latest developments in the waste management situation.
Unfortunately, the meeting was postponed due to the insistence of the Temploni and Lefkimmi organizations that they should be present. We explained that it was a closed working meeting with specific participants - which the Municipality has a right to hold.
Bearing in mind that the waste management problem is the most serious issue that Corfu faces at the moment, which needs to be discussed calmly and soberly, we didn't want the meeting to turn into a pre-election clash and decided to postpone it.
The Local Authority doesn't operate on the principle of exclusion but neither does it operate under coercion with endless and ineffectual discussions."
