Corfu demonstration: Road safety - no more victims

CORFU. Members of the public held a road safety demonstration to remind pedestrians and drivers of the value of life.
The demonstration took place at the spot where 8-year-old Anna Maria lost her life almost two weeks ago - at the 4km of Eth. Lefkimmis Rd outside the special school. Despite the pain at her loss, the mother of the young girl made a brief appearance.
The Fire Service was there as were the Traffic Police with Chief Spyros Skolarikis, who gave advice to parents and children. Parents and children held signs saying "No more blood on the roads", "Less speed - not less lives", "Traffic police and traffic control".
There was a noticeable absence of anyone from the local authority and others who, either through their actions or lack of action, let the road deteriorate into such a dangerous spot.
