IGOUMENITSA. Igoumenitsa Mixed Jury Court sentenced him in the first instance to 19.5 years in prison.
Last February the 30-year-old Pakistani stabbed a 50-year-old Briton in Kato Korakiana for the sake of a woman. Following an altercation with the British man the 30-year-old stabbed him in the stomach and then raped the victim's 29-year-old British friend.
He was found guilty on six counts - three felonies and three misdemeanours. The court accepted the defence lawyer's request to reduce the charge from attempted murder to grievous bodily harm but kept the criminal charges of abduction, rape, dangerous bodily harm, possession of a weapon and use of a weapon.
The 50-year-old victim was not in court. The 30-year-old immediately lodged an appeal.
