Lefkimmi now sues Corfu Municipality for environmental degradation

Lefkimmi Cultural Society submitted a file to the judicial authorities today containing evidence and photographs of the bales that have been deposited over the last twenty or so days at the Mesorahi landfill following the temporary permission granted by the Decentralised Administration and with the strong presence of riot police.

Representatives from the Society and their legal advisor informed the Prosecutor and pressed charges, citing violations of environmental regulations and environmental degradation.

This latest development now adds a legal dimension to the protests of the local residents, who cite evidence that the bales contain mixed waste - not residue - and are torn and damaged, thus polluting and damaging the environment.
