Three days of free health checks in Acharavi

The Municipality of North Corfu, continuing its implementation of the “Anna Mouzakiti” preventive healthcare programme, is organising the 9th Preventive Healthcare Initiative on Friday 30 October, Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November at the Acharavi Multipurpose Medical Centre.

As always, the initiative is being organised in cooperation with Corfu General Hospital and the Corfu Association of Private Practising Doctors. Its aim is to promote health, strengthen preventive care and make free preventive screening services more accessible to the public.

The initiative includes free gynaecological and cardiac check-ups, a first aid seminar, information and registration for new volunteer bone marrow donors, and community outreach activities.

Free gynaecological check-ups – Women aged 35 and over

The preventive gynaecological screening includes:

• Gynaecological examination

• Clinical breast examination

• Smear test

Free cardiac check-ups – Ages 55 to 70

The preventive cardiac screening includes:

• Electrocardiogram (ECG)

• Blood pressure measurement

• Ultrasound screening for an ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm

First aid seminar

As part of the initiative, a first aid seminar will be held by the North Corfu sector of the Ambulance Service (EKAB), with the aim of informing the public and improving people's preparedness to deal with emergencies.

Information and registration for new volunteer bone marrow donors

With the participation of PANDOTIS – North Corfu Group and Faros Zois, information will be provided on the importance of voluntary bone marrow donation, and new volunteer donors will be registered.

Voluntary bone marrow donation is a meaningful act of generosity and solidarity that can offer hope and save the lives of fellow human beings.

Streetwork – Community outreach

Streetwork activities will also take place, involving the distribution of information leaflets and awareness-raising materials on prevention, health and volunteering.

The aim is to bring information directly to the public, fostering a culture of prevention and community participation.

The cooperation between healthcare facilities, social services, voluntary organisations and local bodies highlights the importance of collective efforts to protect public health.

Valuable contribution from 15 cultural societies

The initiative is supported by 15 cultural societies from the Municipality of North Corfu. In a spirit of volunteering and hospitality, they will provide refreshments for members of the public, volunteers and healthcare professionals taking part in the event.

Their presence and contribution strengthen the community-focused character of the initiative, demonstrating the power of cooperation and solidarity within the local community.
