CORFU. 7 October 2026 - 31 January 2027

The Department of Music at the Ionian University, in collaboration with the Hellenic Society of Social Paediatrics and Health Promotion – Corfu Branch and the Corfu Medical and Surgical Society, is continuing the Music Education Programme for Infants and Toddlers (aged 10 months to 5½ years), which has been operating at the Medical Centre since 2008.

The aim of the programme is to strengthen children’s engagement with music, as well as to foster the relationship between parents and their children through music.

From 7 October 2026 to 31 January 2027, the programme will be taught by Ionian University Department of Music students specialising in music education — Panagiota Margeli, Angeliki Vlachou, Sofia Chatziavram, Christina Mourogianni, Elena Kontova and Maria Nizami — with the participation of other undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Department of Music.

The programme is under the academic supervision and responsibility of Zoe Dionysiou, Professor of Music Education at Ionian University.

Classes are held at the Corfu Medical Centre (Skaramanga Square), once a week for each age group, according to the following schedule:

Wednesday
4:00–5:00 pm — ages 2–3½
5:00–6:00 pm — ages 10 months–2 years
6:00–7:00 pm — ages 10 months–2 years

Friday
4:00–5:00 pm — ages 3½–5½
5:00–6:00 pm — ages 2–3½
6:00–7:00 pm — ages 10 months–2 years

Each class consists of groups of up to 12 children, accompanied by an equal number of parents/carers.

The musical activities are based on music education approaches and materials for preschool-aged children developed by the Music Education sector of the Ionian University.

Children up to the age of 3½ must be accompanied by a parent or carer who takes an active part in the sessions. Parents of older children may, if they wish, participate in the sessions, remain in the classroom, or wait in the ground-floor waiting area of the Medical Centre.

Parents interested in enrolling their children are invited to register at the Corfu Medical Centre, tel. 26610 39615, Skaramanga Square.

A donation of €50 to support the Medical Centre is suggested for each child’s participation in the four-month programme (€80 for two siblings). Part of the funds will be used to cover the cost of renewing the programme’s educational materials.

The fee is payable in full upon registration. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
