CORFU. The lessons are held once a week at the Corfu Surgery in Skaramaga Square.

The Department of Music Studies at the Ionian University, in collaboration with the Corfu branch of the Greek Society of Social Paediatrics and Health Promotion and the Corfu Surgical Association, is continuing with the Music Education Programme for Infants and Toddlers (1 to 6 years old). The aim of the programme is to enhance children's contact with music, as well as parents' interaction with their children through music.

The courses for the period February 12, to May 31, will be taught by the students of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University: Magda Koulouri, Elisavet Bouranta, Nicole Fitropoulou, Dimitris Kelaiditis and Apostolos Panagiotidis, with the collaboration of other students from the Department. Ms. Zoe Dionysiou, Assistant Professor of Music Education, is responsible for the programme and scientific supervision.

The classes will take place at the Corfu Surgery in Skaramaga Square once a week for each age group, according to the following schedule:

Wednesday 16:00-17:00   3.5 - 5.5 years of age

Wednesday 17:00-18:00   2 - 3 years of age

Wednesday 18:00-19:00   1 - 2 years of age

Friday 16:00-17:00   3 - 4.5 years of age

Friday 17:00-18:00   2 - 3 years of age

Friday 18:00-19:00   1 - 2 years of age

The classes consist of approximately 12 children with an equal number of parents. The musical activities are based on music education approaches and materials for pre-school-age children that have been developed over the past fourteen years of the programme's operation. Children up to 3 or 3.5 years old are accompanied by one parent in the lesson, who is encouraged to participate actively. Parents of older children are advised to wait in the waiting area on the ground floor of the centre.

Those interested are invited to register at the Corfu Surgery, tel. 26610 39615, Skaramagas Square. A donation of €50 is suggested for each child's participation in the four-month programme (or 80 Euros for two siblings). Part of the funds covers the needs for the renewal of the programme's educational materials. The money is paid in full at the time of registration. Priority will be given to registrations on a first-come, first-served basis.
