Strategic tourism plan for Corfu
CORFU. Central Corfu Municipality has commissioned Marketing Greece to conduct a study on destination management and promotion. Research is currently underway into the current state and future prospects of Corfu’s tourism sector, while the Chamber of Commerce is calling on businesses to participate.
The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands is moving forward with the preparation of a Strategic Plan for the management and promotion of Corfu as a tourist destination, a project that has been assigned to Marketing Greece.
The aim is to develop a comprehensive and sustainable strategy, in line with international standards, covering both destination management and the promotion of Corfu in tourism markets.
As part of the study, research is already underway into Corfu’s current image and its development prospects. A questionnaire is being used to gather the views and assessments of professionals operating on the island.
The Corfu Chamber of Commerce, which has informed its members about the research, is calling on them to participate so that the experience of local businesses can be taken into account in shaping the plan.
The issues being examined essentially concern the future of Corfu tourism: the destination’s identity and competitiveness, making the most of the island’s distinctive characteristics, and the need for tourism development to become more sustainable.
The research forms part of the process of preparing the Strategic Plan and, according to the Chamber, business participation can help ensure that the final recommendations also reflect the needs of the local market.
The questionnaire is available online and takes just a few minutes to complete.
