Fire Service carries out two successful search and rescue operations

Two separate operations carried out by the Corfu Fire Service to assist people in distress were successfully completed on Monday evening.

According to information from the Fire Service, the first operation involved the rescue of a young man who had become stranded in a steep and difficult-to-access area at Rovinia Beach. Emergency crews responded immediately, and the operation was completed at around 6:00 p.m. Firefighters from the 1st Corfu Fire Station, together with personnel from the 15th Special Forest Operations Unit (EMODE), took part in the rescue.

At the same time, a search operation to locate two Dutch tourists in the Pentati area in South Corfu also ended successfully. The two visitors had lost their bearings while walking along a local hiking trail. A team from the 15th EMODE located them and transported them safely to a secure location.

In both incidents, those involved were reported to be in good health.
