Encouraging news has emerged regarding the 29-year-old Central Corfu municipal cleaning service worker, who was seriously injured during refuse collection and has been hospitalised for the past few days in the Intensive Care Unit at Corfu General Hospital.

According to reports, his treating physicians have observed a noticeable improvement in his condition, which has generated cautious optimism about the course of his recovery. The young worker has regained awareness of his surroundings, has woken up, and is communicating, while so far he does not appear to be experiencing any mobility problems.

The same sources estimate that, if the positive development of his health continues, he will be able within the next few days to be discharged from the ICU and transferred to a hospital ward for the continuation of his treatment and recovery until he is discharged.

The worker was seriously injured in the early hours of Saturday after falling from a refuse truck while performing his duties, in an incident that caused strong concern and brought renewed attention to the issue of workplace safety conditions for cleaning service workers.
