Resurrection celebration in Corfu Town
CORFU. The Old Town came alive as the Resurrection was celebrated in spectacular fashion.
In an atmosphere filled with reverence that quickly gave way to excitement, thousands of people—locals and visitors alike—flooded every corner of Spianada Square and Liston Promenade. With their candles lit from the Holy Light, the crowd was united, waiting for the moment when ‘Christ is Risen' would be called out.

As soon as the joyful hymn rang out and the bells began to toll, the sky over Corfu came alight. Hundreds of spectacular fireworks lit up the night, creating a dazzling display of colours above the Old Fortress and the square. The deafening noise and brilliant flashes combined to create a truly unique atmosphere, inspiring awe and admiration.

Local authorities were in attendance at the ceremony, including the Archbishop, the Regional Governor, the Mayors, and representatives of the security forces, lending an official tone to the celebration. However, the true strength of the evening came from the presence of the people. Unity, faith, and the shared joy of the Resurrection were reflected on everyone’s faces, reminding us of the true meaning of these days.
