CORFU. Representatives of leading institutional bodies, professional organisations, and key stakeholders of the tourism market are taking part in the forum.

(Central Corfu Municipality) The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands is organising today, Wednesday, January 28, from 09:30 to 14:30, a one-day forum entitled “Assessment of the 2025 Tourism Season: Data – Challenges – Prospects,” which is taking place at the Cook’s Club Hotel in Gouvia.

The forum aims to provide a systematic and technocratic approach to the tourism season that has just concluded, with the objective of capturing the economic and operational dimensions of tourism through quantitative and qualitative data, as well as positioning Corfu within the broader framework of the international tourism economy.

Representatives of leading institutional bodies, professional organisations, and key stakeholders of the tourism market will participate in the meeting. A particular honour for the event is the participation of the Ministry of Tourism and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ms. Anna Karamali, as well as the presence of the Ionian Islands Regional Authority, the Bank of Greece, ELSTAT, INSETE, international cruise organisations, and representatives of the island’s entry gateways. At the same time, the participation of Corfu’s tourism bodies reflects the need for a permanent and structured dialogue on tourism-related matters on the island.

In his statement, the Deputy Mayor for Sustainable Tourism Development and Public Relations, Spyros Halikiopoulos, notes:

“The presence of significant institutions and organisations at the forum demonstrates the growing importance of dialogue on tourism in Corfu. Our goal is not a fragmented assessment, but the cultivation of a meaningful and well-documented dialogue on market operations and the real contribution of tourism to the local economy, based on data and international developments.”

This forum is now being established as an institution, as it is being held for the second time, with an upgraded level of participation and an expanded thematic scope. At the same time, it constitutes the first initiative of the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Sustainable Tourism Development for 2026, to be followed by additional, more specialised interventions, guided by sustainability and the strategic strengthening of the destination.
