CORFU. The damage is scattered around the island and includes burnt transformers that require immediate replacement, as well as blown fuses in substations, as a result of lightning.

DEDDIE Repair crews are working across Corfu to restore widespread power outages caused by Saturday’s severe weather and strong storms.

According to DEDDIE Corfu director Mr. Sofianos, the damage is extensive and scattered, including burnt transformers that require immediate replacement and blown fuses in substations caused by lightning strikes. Crews are operating at full capacity, though in some cases a second round of repairs is needed to fully restore the network.

Despite the intensive effort, with multiple teams working in parallel, several areas of the island remain without electricity. The districts still affected include Gastouri, Argyrades, Sidari, Viros, Kefalomandouko, and Kanalia.

DEDDIE confirmed that restoration work is continuing around the clock, with the aim of reconnecting all affected areas to the power grid as quickly as possible.
