When will work in St.Spyridon Alley be completed? – What DEDDIE says
CORFU. The ball is in the Municipality’s court regarding the substation in the square.
Work by DEDDIE is in full progress on Agios Spyridon Street, aiming to upgrade infrastructure and restore normal conditions in the area ahead of the Easter period.
According to statements by the Director of DEDDIE Corfu, Nikos Sofianos, the works are moving ahead at an intensive pace. The service estimates that the project will be fully completed by Lazarus Saturday, allowing for the smooth movement of residents and visitors during the Easter period.
The issue of the substation in Kato Plateia
Regarding the critical issue of installing the new substation in Lower Square, Mr. Sofianos clarified that the final decision now rests with the Central Corfu Municipality.
DEDDIE is seeking to keep the facility at the same location, as it already holds all the necessary permits.
If a new location is selected, the process will have to start from scratch. This would involve new studies and approvals, leading to a significant delay in a project of vital importance for the power supply of the historic centre.
“If we move to a new location, bureaucratic procedures will take time, pushing the completion of the project further into the future,” the DEDDIE Director stated.
