Man arrested for theft in South Corfu
CORFU. It was confirmed that he was involved in five cases of theft, during which he stole olive oil and olives, tools, electronic devices, and a sum of money.
A 33-year-old man was arrested on Monday, December 30, for thefts targeting olive mills, a storage facility, and a house in South Corfu. A case file was filed against him for the crime of theft committed professionally and repeatedly.
Through the preliminary investigation conducted by the South Corfu Police Department and the proper utilisation of evidence, his involvement in five theft cases was identified. These thefts were committed from late September to the early morning hours of Monday, December 30.
- Over the past month, using burglary tools, he broke into olive mills and a storage facility on separate occasions, stealing olives and olive oil worth a total of €11,800, as well as tools.
- On September 23, 2024, he stole electronic devices, technology items, tools, and other valuables worth over €5,000, along with €4,000 in cash, from a residence.
During the searches conducted at his residence and vehicle, the following items were found and confiscated:
- Tools and other objects,
- Empty containers for storing olive oil,
- Clothing worn during the thefts.
Additionally, in an outdoor area near the Alykes Lefkimmi region, 33 sacks of olives and three containers of olive oil, stolen from an olive mill, were discovered and returned to their rightful owner.
As part of the investigation carried out by the South Corfu Police Department, the 33-year-old’s car was also confiscated as a means used to commit the illegal acts.
The arrested individual was brought to appear before the Corfu Prosecutor.
