CORFU. The Association sent a letter on 16 December.

On Monday, December 16, the Corfu Lawyers' Association sent the following letter to the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Mr. Kyranakis requesting a further extension of the cadastral registration deadline beyond December 20.

Dear Deputy Minister,

For the reasons we have extensively outlined to you both orally and in our lengthy correspondence, you are well aware that in Corfu, more time is needed to complete the significant cadastral registration project for our region.

This need for additional time arises primarily because, unlike the rest of Greece, only 12 months were allocated for this massive project in Corfu (and Thesprotia), along with an additional 20-day extension. While the latter was a positive and relieving measure, it is still insufficient.

On December 11, it became known that you met with the MP for Samos, Mr. Stefanadis, and the Mayor of Ikaria, Mr. Karoutsos, regarding similar but also specific issues in their areas. It was announced that you decided to extend the deadline for submitting declarations related to adverse possession, unclaimed inheritances and new ownership claims until March 2025 for Ikaria and Samos (source: ERT - Extension for property declarations in the cadastral registry for Ikaria and Samos - ertnews.gr).

Following this, and given that our region also faces unique challenges (limited allocated time, small land parcels, lack of titles, numerous adverse possession claims, etc.), we kindly request that you grant another extension for the cadastral registration process (both online and regular declarations) to ensure that the maximum possible percentage of properties can be registered.

We stress that such an action would truly benefit our region.

Hoping that our request will be heard, we wish you a Merry Christmas and good health.

Sincerely,
The President of the Corfu Lawyers' Association
Ioannis M. Kontos
