Trepeklis 5% ahead of Kratsa in Regional Authority elections - second round next Sunday

CORFU. Giorgos Raidestinos didn΄t get elected to Regional Council.

Yiannis Trepeklis has a 5.08% lead over Rodi Kratsa based on the results of 99.83% of the polling stations.

The "blue insurgent" received 34,688 votes (32.51%) compared to Rodi Kratsa's 29,263 (27.43%) in the regional election on Sunday, October 8th.

The campaign teams will be working again from today to secure victory at the polls on Sunday, October 15th, between the two contenders.

Rodi Kratsa is ahead in the Regional Units of Zakynthos, Lefkada and Ithaki. However, in the critical Regional Unit of Corfu, which constitutes the largest pool of voters in the Ionian Islands, Yiannis Trepeklis has a significant lead with 43.17% (21,309 votes) compared to 19.55% (9,651 votes) garnered by the current Regional Governor.

As for the Regional Unit of Cephalonia, Theodoros Galiatsatos came first with 28.04%.

According to the results from the Ministry of Interior, the first round of the regional elections in the Ionian Islands concluded with the following percentages:

Yiannis Trepeklis:  32.51% - 34,688 votes

Rodi Kratsa 27.43% -  29,263 votes

Theodoros Galiatsatos: 15.77% - 16,828 votes

Alexandra Balou: 13.76% - 14,686 votes

Maria Dri: 8.82% - 9,413 votes

Giorgos Raidestinos: 1.71% - 1,823 votes
