DNA analysis to identify bones found in car pulled out of sea at Corfu Port

CORFU. The identification so far is based on all the findings recovered from the sea.

With DNA analysis, the authorities will be able to scientifically identify the person who was in the car that was found at Corfu Port.
 
As the medical examiner Ioannis Aivatidis told Enimerosi, a sample of the bones and genetic material of a relative of the deceased will be sent to the Athens forensic lab to verify the identity.
 
The identification that has been made so far is based on all the findings recovered from the sea, such as the identity card on the wallet, the car and its chassis number.
 
The autopsy confirmed that it is a man of the age of Kostas Fragoulis, who had been missing since 2006.
 
There are no injuries or bone fractures and there is no indication of foul play from the evidence so far.
 
The man was reported missing by his relatives in 2006. On that day, according to information, the then 38-year-old man who lived in Corfu Town was going to visit his village, but he never arrived.

Regarding the discovery of a car and human bones yesterday afternoon at Corfu Port, it is known that Corfu Port Authority continues the investigation with the assistance of a diver.
 
During the investigation, apart from the human bones, a wallet was also found, which contained an id card that belonged to a 55-year-old man, who was reported missing in 2006.
 
The Corfu Central Port Authority that is conducting the investigation will request a DNA sample from a relative to identify the bones.
