CORFU. The Municipal Council has also given the go-ahead for the new lease for the Aktaion.

Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipal Council gave its approval yesterday for the leasing of the 'Aktaion Cafe' property to go ahead. The matter was discussed at an extraordinary online meeting following the proposal of Deputy Mayor for Finance Giorgos Pantelios.

Mr. Pantelios told Enimerosi that the Finance Committee is expected to define the terms and conditions for the auction of the property, including the starting price, the guarantee and rental period, based on the auditor's report.

Five months

Almost five months have already passed since the cafe closed at the end of its lease on 31 October 2021. The property has been emptied (by law it must be empty for the auction) and is awaiting the new tenant to bring the much-loved Corfu meeting spot back to life. There has been great interest from potential tenants and Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipal Property Department has been flooded with enquiries. The final number of 'suitors', however, will become clear when offers are submitted.

'Legendary' Zisimos to reopen as Greco Street

Renovation work is being carried out at the Zisimos-Olympia Cafe and training of personnel will begin shortly so that it can open before the Catholic Easter. The former Zisimos Cafe will reopen as Greco Street - part of the miCafetal Group.

The property on the corner of Vas.Georgiou A and Capodistriou 24 (Liston), which was a legacy from Isabella Dalietou, was taken over by the new tenant in December following an auction in which they were the only one to make an offer.
