CORFU. The Municipal Lighting Department, using the Municipality΄s bucket truck, conducted an on-site inspection, numbered, and took photographic documentation of each of the 55 lighting fixtures in total.

(Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality) Following an internal meeting held on May 7, regarding the schedule of repair and maintenance works for the traditional lanterns of the Liston building complex, a full inspection of their condition was completed today, Wednesday, May 14.

The Municipal Lighting Department, using the Municipality's bucket truck, conducted an on-site inspection, numbered, and took photographic documentation of each of the 55 lighting fixtures in total.

These initial works were conducted in order to assess the extent and severity of damage to the metal structures as well as cracks in the masonry.

Potential safety hazards were also inspected, so that emergency repairs could be carried out where necessary to prevent any risk of accidents.

Based on the documentation gathered, a corresponding technical study will be prepared by the Municipality’s Technical Services, in collaboration with the Corfu Ephorate of Antiquities, to be included in the Municipality’s technical programme.

The repair and reinstallation contract, to be carried out by a specialised crew, is scheduled to take place after the end of the tourist season, with the aim of completion during the 2025–2026 winter period.
