CORFU. A road map will be drawn up on Thursday regarding the means, cost and technique of the interventions required.

The Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Mayor, along with a team of the Special Public Works Service for Peloponnese and Western Greece, visited this morning all Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality areas, where there had been damage to public infrastructure due to last Thursday’s flood. The visit was ordered by the Deputy Minister responsible for Infrastructure Giorgos Karayiannis, with whom Mrs. Ydraiou had a phone conversation yesterday, following a written request she had sent.

The Mayor, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor for Technical Works Nikos Kalogeros, the Deputy Mayor Yiannis Seremetis and municipal officials, showed to the Special Public Works Service team the damage caused mainly in the districts of Achillio and Parelia.

The team – consisting of the Special Public Works Service supervisor Akrivi Harari, a geologist, a technician and an engineer – saw up close the damage caused to the municipal infrastructure in all the affected areas, as well as the landslides in many parts of the Municipal Units, and took photos.

A meeting with the Municipality’s responsible Directorates will also be held tomorrow, in the presence of the Mayor Meropi Ydraiou, where a road map will be drawn up regarding the means, cost and technique of the interventions required.

The Special Public Works Service team has already given the first preventive instructions, while the interventions to be made will be both short and long term.
