Government team to visit hardest-hit areas in Corfu on Wednesday

CORFU. Civil Protection Minister Christos Stylianides, Secretary to the PM Christos Triantopoulos, engineers and a supervisor from the Special Public Works Service will be coming to Corfu on Wednesday.
A high-level team from the government will be visiting Corfu tomorrow to inspect areas hit by the storm and see at first-hand the damage and destruction caused by last Thursday's severe weather.
The Deputy Minister responsible for Infrastructure Giorgos Karayiannis informed Mayor Meropi Ydraiou of the upcoming visit in a phone conversation following the letters sent by the mayor.
The Civil Protection Minister Christos Stylianides and the Secretary to the PM, responsible for Repairs following Natural DIsaster Christos Triantopoulos will be in the team arriving in Corfu tomorrow afternoon to visit the areas hit by the storm.
Engineers will also be coming along with the supervisor from the Special Public Works Service for Peloponnese and Western Greece Akrivi Harari, with whom Ms Ydraiou spoke on the phone today.
The Mayor spoke with the Deputy Minister responsible for Infrastructure Giorgos Karayiannis about the damage to public infrastructure here and Mr. Karayiannis is also expected to visit in the coming days.
Along with the letters sent and the contact she had with the responsible ministries, Ms. Ydraiou also sent a letter to the Hellenic Geological and Mineral Exploration Administration and a special team is also expected to visit the island to provide expert opinion and advice regarding the damage that requires special response (subsidence, landslips etc.).
