The Ionian Islands Regional Authority has announced that from the early morning hours of Friday 6 August measuring and recording of traffic data will commence, as well as road markings for traffic restrictions on the Eth. Paleokastritsa Rd. in Solari, from the Koyevina junction until the Potamos junction.

The abovementioned works are necessary for inclusion in the traffic study being conducted by the Ionian Islands Region, on the basis of which the traffic conditions will be determined, to ensure the best operation of the road and the convenience of road users and residents of the area.

In order for the data to be reliable, the measurements and recordings need to be made during a peak traffic period, which is why this specific period of time was chosen. Every possible effort will be made to avoid inconvenience to road users.

On the basis of the above, from the early hours of Friday 6 August, a trial restriction of parking spaces will commence on the side of the road leading out of town. At the same time, from the early morning hours of Friday 6 August until Tuesday 10 August, measurements will be made and traffic data will be recorded on the side leading into town under the current parking prohibition system.

From Friday 6 August, the traffic lights at the “Kalimera” junction will also be put into trial operation. From Wednesday 11 August, parking spaces will be restricted – also on a trial basis and only in certain appropriate parts – on the side of the road leading into town.

The decisions for the abovementioned actions were taken after inspections and meetings of the Deputy Regional Governor for Infrastructure & Technical Works Manolis Orphanoudakis, the Deputy Regional Governor for Corfu Melita Andrioti, staff at the Ionian Islands Region Authority and Corfu Traffic Police.

Drivers are asked to fully comply with the no stopping and parking signs along the entire length of the road during the entire time of the measurements and recordings.
