Roadworks in North Corfu - beginning with Sfakeron-Kitos-Episkepsi Road

CORFU. Dynamic start by the Municipality – Another 10 rural roads to follow – See which ones
The strategy of the North Corfu Municipality within the framework of the "Antonis Tritsis" Programme for the improvement of existing rural roads in all municipal units of North Corfu is beginning to be implemented.
Political difficulties have been overcome and the initiative is beginnning with the EU-standard rural road "Sfakera – Kitos – Episkepsi", with 10 more rural roads to follow.
The Municipal Authority of North Corfu, having set as a primary goal the strengthening of the primary sector by improving access conditions, is accelerating the procedures for the improvement of internal rural road networks now that the challenges posed by the "heterogeneous alliance" have been resolved.
The project begins with the EU-standard rural road "Sfakera – Kitos – Episkepsi", spanning 3,960 metres, followed by ten additional roads:
- Katavolos – Zavalatika Road (403 metres)
- Kontrakoulia Road (410 metres)
- Karousades – Olive Mill Road (1,356 metres)
- Nymfes – Olive Mill – Barbati Road (1,500 metres)
- Gousades – Monastery Road (2,380 metres)
- Agios Spyridonas Livadiou – Stavros Road (2,060 metres)
- Stavros – Koukoumikades Road (1,430 metres)
- Dafni – Agios Georgios Road (1,006 metres)
- Rachtades – Ai Lias Road (1,030 metres)
- Horoepiskopi – Valaneio Road (3,040 metres)
"Our residents can be assured that, on the one hand, we are continuing our efforts to secure additional funding for new rural road projects, and on the other hand, we are making full use of every available funding opportunity and tool provided to municipalities to address long-standing issues in local communities and improve their quality of life," stated the Mayor of North Corfu, Giorgos Machimaris.
He added that five more projects have already secured funding, while another 11 road projects, totaling 30 kilometres in length, are in the process of being included in the rural development programme.
