Mayor Poulimenos signs four contracts for roadworks
CORFU. The timeframe for completing the works will be 12 months, with the possibility of an extension if necessary.
On Thursday morning, November 14th, the Mayor of Central Corfu, Stefanos Poulimenos, signed contracts for four technical projects at the Maraslio town hall, which involve improvements and repairs to parts of the road network.
Three of the contracts concern the restoration of damage caused by the storm "Ballos" and have a budget of 400,000, 550,000, and 550,000 euros, respectively.
The first project involves the restoration of the roads Vassilika-Danilia (400,000 euros), in an area which looks like a bomb site, as the mayor specifically described it.
The second project involves the restoration of the municipal road network on Nisi Gerekou, at the first intersection of Panagouli and along a riverside road. Mr. Poulimenos stated that these are "very significant interventions as they concern the suburban zone and serve thousands of our fellow citizens daily." The project has a budget of 550,000 euros.
The third project (550,000 euros) involves specific interventions to the road network, with the construction of drainage piles to support the roads in areas prone to landslides. The work will take place in the communities of Ano Garouna, on a bend before the village, Ano Kompitsi, Kontoyialos and Evropoulos.
Finally, the contract for an improvement project originating from the time of the Unified Corfu Municipality was signed. This will take place at the site of Choreftario in Nymfes. The Mayor said that three more projects are planned for North Corfu, which will be carried out by the municipality.
The timeframe for completing the works is 12 months, with the possibility of an extension if necessary, as this is considered a very challenging project.
