CORFU. "To celebrate the official launch of our base in Corfu and the new routes on Ryanair΄s Summer 2021 Programme, we are offering fares starting from €19.99 for flights taken up to October."

Ryanair, Europe's No.1 airline, is launching its new base in Corfu today, 2 July. With two aircraft permanently based here the company will have 28 new routes out of a total of 52 and will operate 123 flights a week.

With the new Ryanair base Corfu will from today have direct connections with a large number of international destinations throughout Europe. As we approach the peak of the summer period this is expected to boost air traffic even more along with island's tourist sector as the vaccination programme continues in all European countries.

Corfu residents will also have the opportunity to discover new popular destinations such as Marseilles, Milan, Paris, Tel Aviv, Sofia and others with even lower fares and 'zero change fee' if plans need to be changed.

Talking to Christina Gerekou from Enimerosi at the launch Ryanair Marketing & Digital Media Director Dara Brady said the following:

"I am very happy to be in Corfu today for the launch of our new base. Air travel is expected to increase sharply in July and August as the vaccination programmes continue throughout Europe. With a total of 52 routes this summer (including 28 new ones), it will be easier for people in Corfu to enjoy an escape to popular European destinations.

As travel restrictions due to Covid are changing continuously, Ryanair is giving its customers the chance to book now in the knowledge that if they need to postpone or change the dates of travel, they can do this up to twice without charge until the end of December 2021.

To celebrate the official launch of our base in Corfu and the new routes on Ryanair΄s Summer 2021 Programme, we are offering fares starting from €19.99 for flights taken up to October. These flights must be booked up to midnight on Sunday 4 July. And because these tickets will go quickly, we recommend that our customers visit our website www.ryanair.com so as not to miss this great opportunity."

Fraport Greece General Development Director Giorgos Vilos said: "We warmly welcome Ryanair's decision to develop its presence at Corfu, Rhodes and Chania Airports through the creation of a summer base offering a large number of new international routes.

These three destinations which attract a large number of international visitors even under the current difficult circumstances, in conjunction with the unique Greek hospitality, will contribute significantly to the success of Ryanair's decision and open the way for further development in the near future.

We wish Ryanair every success in these new efforts and are ready to welcome travellers from around the world at the completely upgraded airports in Corfu, Rhodes and Chania."
