Airport closed from today for works
CORFU. Corfu Airport will be closed until 26 January, in order to complete necessary works on the runway.
Corfu Airport will be closed from Monday, 12 January until 26 January, following a decision by operator Fraport Greece, in order to carry out essential works on the runway.
During this period, emergency flights — including air ambulances, search and rescue, firefighting, humanitarian and state flights — will be operated by helicopters, while all airport services will continue to function normally.
According to Fraport Greece, the works aim to further enhance runway safety and include extensive upgrades to runway safety strips and runway end safety areas (RESA). The project forms part of the Concession Agreement and is being carried out in line with sustainability and social responsibility principles.
The temporary suspension of runway operations is required due to the scale and complexity of the works, with scheduling designed to keep the closure period as short as possible.
