CORFU. There were increased police measures and checks from early this morning, Thursday 26th, around the Workers΄ Centre and at the entrances to town.
There were increased police measures and checks from early this morning, Thursday 26th, due to the unions' participation in the national strike.
Members of the PAME Union gathered in San Rocco Square with proper distancing in line with the health protocols to avoid the spread of coronavirus.
There has been a strong police presence around the Workers' Centre from early this morning carrying out checks on members of the public too ensure that there is no non-essential movement and that masks are being worn.
There have also been increased checks at the roads coming into Corfu Town - Lefkimmi Rd. and Paleokastritsa Rd.
The President of Corfu Hotel Employees Union Stamatis Pelais spoke to Enimerosi about Corfu's participation in today's national 24-hour strike and the workers' demands.
