CORFU. The control tower at Corfu Airport received a request for an emergency landing from a Jet2 flight on Wednesday night.
The aircraft, with 235 passengers on board, was flying from Dalaman Airport in Turkey to Manchester and requested to make an emergency landing at Corfu Airport just after 8pm last night.
The aeroplane's captain requested permission to land due to the disturbance being caused, according to initial information, by a British passenger out of control.
Following the plane's landing, the police and the Civil Aviation Authority held a consultation as to the best solution to the problem as passengers from Turkey are not allowed to disembark in Greece due to Covid. The plane had only been allowed to land due to the captain's request for an emergency landing.
The British national was arrested and will take a Covid and be placed in quarantine for two days before being taken to appear before the Prosecutor.
The remaining passengers stayed on board the plane, which took off about two hours later and resumed its flight to the UK.
