CORFU. Meropi Ydraiou: "The local authority΄s initiatives to support recycling are ongoing."
Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality has implemented a new method of rewarding members of the public who recycle.
According to the Municipal press release, the most modern method of giving rewards has been set up for the first time in Greece and specila QR codes are now available on the Municipal Followgreen platform.
These codes have been given to all the Green Spots in the Municipality.
This comes to fulfil the local authority's committment to devising and implementing methods to reward the recycling efforts of the public.
In collaboration with the reward platform FollowGreen, special QR codes have been created which are now available at all the Green Spots run by volunteers who want to protect the environment.
These special codes will give 100 reward points every week to residents of the Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality who recycle at these Green Spots.
These points can then be exchanged for special offers and discounts at over 70 local businesses.
How it works
The process is very simple and is available free to all members of the public.
Individuals just need to choose and visit one of the Green Spots to recycle.
They will need to have:
- Smartphone
- QR Code Scanner App
- An account on the FollowGreen platform
The Municipal platform FollowGreen also has an app which is available for all on App Store for iPhones and Google Play for Android.
For more details and guidelines visit the FollowGreen site where an account can easily be opened. Alternatively, help and advice can be had from volunteers at any of the Green Spots in the Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality.
