CORFU. The Committee aims to coordinate activities, encourage meaningful collaboration, and promote well-documented proposals.
(Garitsa 'Park' Association) An Inter-Association Committee of Cultural and Environmental Associations, based in Corfu Town, was recently established as a necessary and conscious response to the degradation of our region’s cultural and natural environment and to the absence of meaningful dialogue and coordinated action.
The aim of the Committee is to coordinate efforts, promote substantive cooperation, and bring forward well-documented proposals for the protection of culture, the environment, and the quality of life of the residents of Corfu. The Inter-Association Committee aspires to become a unified, strong, and independent voice of civil society in the face of practices marked by indifference, fragmented decision-making, and the degradation of public space.
The operation of the Committee is based on absolute respect for the autonomy, identity, and positions of each association. It neither adopts nor substitutes the views of other bodies. Every joint initiative is decided collectively, with transparency and equality, guided solely by the public interest.
Participation is open to all active cultural and environmental associations of Corfu that refuse to accept degradation and choose cooperation, advocacy, and action instead of silence.
The Inter-Association Committee clearly states that it will intervene publicly, demand accountability, and pursue solutions wherever and whenever damage to the natural, cultural, and social capital of Corfu is identified.
Inaugural Meeting
On Sunday, 8 March at 11:00, the inaugural meeting of the Boards of Directors of all participating associations will take place in the hall above the Corfu Surgery.
