CORFU. Corfu Mayor Kostas Nikolouzos welcomed the Al Mubaraki with the ΄Capodistrias΄ Philharmonic Band and the ΄Laodamas΄ dance group whilst the crew released white doves.

The Qatar Cultural Organisation 'Katara' is using the boat to promote the FIFA 2022 World Cup on a 2-year journey to the Arabian Gulf countries, the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean.

The boat-museum is a faithful recreation of traditional Qatari sailboats showcasing the maritime tradition and cultural heritage of the country.

The Al Mubaraki was built in 1983 and combines Qatar's maritime heritage with modern maritime technology. In 2019 it will cover 4,000 nautical miles and visit 11 ports. The former Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who visits Corfu nearly every year, is also on the island at present and his impressive yacht moored in the hotel's bay in Moraitika has been drawing attention.
