CORFU. We will have the opportunity in Greece to observe a partial lunar eclipse on Tuesday 16 July.
Corfu Astronomy Society will set up a telescope through which those who wish will be able to observe the partial lunar eclipse on Tuesday night.
The phenomenon - when the moon enters the Earth's shadow - begins at 23:01 Greek time.
Penumbral Eclipse begins at 21:43. This is invisible to the naked eye but will gradually become visible. The moon will rise at approximately 21:00 and will be at a height of approximately 17 degrees.
Observers will need to have unobstructed views towards south-southeast to witness the phenomenon.
Penumbral Eclipse begins - 21:43 (the moon has already risen)
Partial Eclipse begins - 23:01
Maximum Eclipse - 00:30
Partial Eclipse ends - 01:59
Penumbral Eclipse ends - 03:17
In case of clouds or rain the observation will not take place.
