CORFU. The property is being emptied and in a few months will be open to bids again.
The Aktaion Cafe, run by businessman Vassilis Sozos, has existed in its present form for 27 years. On Sunday 31 October, the business closed and the premises are being emptied.
Over all those years, the Aktaion developed and improved and became a meeting place for Corfiots. It was not only a cafe, and later a restaurant, but also a welcoming venue for artistic events, presentations and promotions.
"A cycle has been completed and we're waiting for a new one to begin,"Vassilis Sozos told Enimerosi.
The contract for the property, owned by the Municipality, has ended and will be open for offers once gain. Until that time, according to the law, the property must remain empty.
Deputy Mayor for Finance Giorgos Pantelios believes that the process will be completed at the end of the year or beginning of the new year.
Vassilis Sozos doesn't rule out making a bid again but says it is too early to say with certainty as the opening bid price has not yet been determined. It is also still not known what kind of business will take it over.
