28-year-old woman and 38-year-old man arrested for series of thefts in Corfu

CORFU. The 28-year-old woman and 38-year-old man were arrested on 10 June for attempted theft and a series of thefts in Corfu.

Police were able to catch the two in Corfu Town on Monday afternoon following their attempted burglary of a mini market in North Corfu that morning. The 38-year-old hit and injured the 39-year-old shop owner on the head with a metal object. On further investigation the police discovered that on the same morning they had stolen 175 Euros from a filling station and attempted to burgle another mini market in North Corfu.

They had also been involved in another two thefts in Corfu town:

- Early on Friday (7/6) morning they had broken into a kiosk and stolen 400 Euros and goods worth 150 Euros.
- Between Thursday (6/6) evening and Friday morning they had stolen a car valued at 10,000 Euros and used it to carry out their thefts.

Police found and returned the car to its owner as well as some of the stolen money and goods.

Corfu Central Police carried out the interrogation in collaboration with North Corfu and Palaiokastritsa police stations and the Regional Police. The two Greek nationals were then taken to appear before the Corfu Prosecutor.
