CORFU. The police have been in South Corfu for 6 months now.
It may seem difficult to believe but its true! The riot police (MAT) were still in Lefkimmi on Christmas Eve after 6 months in South Corfu - despite the promises of various politicians that they would be withdrawing soon and despite the protests of the Police Union, Lefkimmi landfill and the surrounding area is still being policed.
Lefkimi residents who have through difficult times and have been involved in clashes with the police took this opportunity to sing to the police. They sang carols and at the same time got across the message that they are living through difficult times in this festive season of 'love and peace'.
