CORFU. The heavy downpour - normal for this time of year - had consequences which were also to be expected.
Rubbish which has been piling up for days (at least) spilled onto the roads. Areas of the road network which are often flooded were even worse today due to the rubbish which had been collecting and which blocked those drains that were clear.
The conditions were dangerous for drivers, pedestrians, houses and public health. Photos from Alepou-Kampaniolou are typical of what was happening throughout the island.
