Twenty new fines for violations of cleanliness regulations
CORFU. Dumping waste outside bins remains the most common offence, even when the bins are empty.
The Cleaning and Recycling Department of the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands has recorded twenty new violations over the past few days. The most common offence continues to be the disposal of waste outside bins, even in cases where the bins are empty.
The violations concerned the following provisions:
Article 11: Disposal of waste outside recycling bins.
- Fine: €100.00 for businesses and commercial establishments.
- Number of fines issued: Seven.
Articles 13.3 & 13.7(a): Failure to reduce the volume of all types of waste generated by food-service establishments, wholesale businesses, supermarkets, retail shops, and other commercial premises.
- Fine: €400.00 per bag, item, or package.
- Number of fines issued: Two.
Article 7.4: Placing waste outside bins.
- Fine: €100.00 per item, bag, or package.
- Number of fines issued: Three.
Article 7.8: Parking vehicles in front of waste collection bins.
- Fine: €200.00.
- Number of fines issued: Eight.
