CORFU. Yet another rubbish pile fire in North Corfu.
The fire broke out at about 2 o'clock this afternoon in a pile of collected rubbish. The Fire Service arrived on the scene to prevent it from spreading to nearby areas with vegetation.
Update 16:00
The fire has spread to the slopes due to the wind. The front is in a ditch and firefighters are trying to control it as it is close to a residential area.
As well as firefighters from the Fire Service and Civil Protection water is being dropped on the area by PZL aircraft.

The fire is spreading all available means are being used to fight it. There are 9 fire engines at the scene, 30 firefighters and two rescue teams. Due to the danger of the fire spreading further the village of Vigla has been evacuated. As well as the two PZL planes a Canadair plane has now been called in.
