Fire breaks out in summer camp kitchen on Vidos

CORFU. The prompt intervention of the campsite staff and the Fire Service prevented further problems – one minor injury was reported, along with limited material damage.
A fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon in the kitchen of a building within the campsite facilities, on the northeastern side of Vidos islet.
The campsite staff responded immediately, managing to extinguish the fire using the site’s active fire protection equipment. At the same time, the Fire Service was alerted, and a team from the Corfu Fire Service Operations Unit was dispatched to the scene on foot.
The incident caused minor material damage to the kitchen area, while one person was also reported to have suffered a minor injury.
The exact causes and circumstances surrounding the outbreak of the fire are being investigated by the competent Investigation Department of the Fire Service.
