Fire quickly contained in Loustri, North Corfu
CORFU. The swift mobilisation of the fire service and Civil Protection Service prevented the fire from spreading.
A fire broke out in Loustri, within the local community of Gimari in North Corfu, shortly before midday on Monday, 14 September.
Thanks to the immediate and effective response of the firefighting forces, the blaze was quickly brought under control before it could develop into a more serious incident. Three vehicles with six firefighters from the Thinali Fire Station responded to the scene, while the Civil Protection Service of the Municipality of North Corfu also played a key role, assisting firefighting efforts with two vehicles.
The fire burned a total of 150 square metres of dry grass, while six olive trees sustained partial damage.
An investigation is being carried out by the Corfu Fire Service’s Investigative Office to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the fire.
